Rainbow Angus Farms is a partnership between Tim Hopkins and Craig Guffey,
located in the Peanut Country of Southeast Alabama. We're proud to operate on the same land that has been in Tim’s family for four generations. The name Rainbow Angus was adopted from several businesses originated by Tim’s parents, including the Rainbow brand of fertilizer sold at their local farm supply store. In 1996 Tim made a career decision to return home to take over the family cattle operation. The next year he decided to partner with good friend Craig, who was contemplating returning to his agricultural roots in Kansas after many years in the corporate business world. Craig’s family had homesteaded the rich cattle country of Northeast Kansas, where most are still involved in farming and ranching operations today. The partnership allowed the melding of different environmental backgrounds and philisophical approaches, along with a successful bull alliance.

In the beginning everyone told us we would go broke! “You can’t make living raising cattle!” is what we herd at least three times a day for five years. Now that we are approaching our tenth year in business, people now ask, “Is all ya’ll do is mess with those cows?” to which we smile and answer, “Yes!” To be able to focus 100% on the cattle we have done most everything against the grain of Southern cattle tradition. As we make decisions, we focus on quality cattle and then wear out our calculators. Today, we have waiting lists for our cattle, and we work as consultants to a lot of our customers. Our cattle are working from South Florida to the Mountains of Wyoming. We also own two bulls at ABS Global, one was 6th high semen sales for ABS this year and the other is new to the line up, and he is, as ABS says, “Maternal Royalty.”
