The horses have been a fun and exciting part of our operation. After getting back into the horse business for a few years, we decided to shift gears from breeding and showing ranch and reigned cow horses - to Cutters! We have carefully selected a small group of horses that we are currently showing in the Non-Pro, aged event classes. After researching cutting-horse lines, it's apparent that most breeding decisions are based on money, and not on the important traits dictating phenotype, athletic, or structural soundness. Much like what is happening in the purebred cattle industry, horse beeders of today are often putting their emphasis on short-term results. There is a lot more to the business besides a once-in-a-lifetime futurity champion. We selected a small band of mares and a stallion bred as deep to the foundation cutting lines as we could find, and we are crossing them on the modern lines that fit our strict criteria, for phenotype, structural soundness, mind, and athletic ability.
