The horses have been a fun and exciting new part of our operation. We recently got back into horses, along with Tim’s cousin Rebecca Woods. On a trip to Montana in the fall of 2003, we attended Leachman Cattle Company’s Cattle Dispersal sale. While we were there we were blown away by the Leachman Hairpin Cavvy of horses. We came home with two fillies and a colt.
We now have a small band of brood mares that are bred for all-around type cow horses. And just like our cow herd, they had to impress us in every way. (Bloodlines conformation, ability, and good-minded.) Our horses must have the ability and stamina to work on the ranch all week and talented enough to be competitive at NRCHA (National Reigned Cow Horse Association) events on the weekend. We will have our first set of colts this spring and are very excited. Pictured is one of our stallions, Hairpin Wiggy "Will". |
