-Cows are scored on whether they bred back AI, or natural service, in a 60-day breeding season. Cows must breed back or are culled. (And for that matter, any repro problems, the cow is culled!)

-Feed efficiency is monitored in first-calf heifers at two years of age, nursing their first calf on winter annual pastures, and every year after that.

-Udders must be level with teats small and evenly spaced, having enough production to raise a calf that is consistent with its contemporary group.

-Cow must be structurally correct in every way, both for the cow’s longevity, and for the structural soundness of her offspring.

-Cattle must shed their hair to handle our extreme environment.

-Cows are managed as commercial cows for maximum environmental adaptation.

-All cows must calve unassisted, and have a strong maternal ability with new calf.

-The bottom 25% of the cow herd is culled every year based on the above criteria.
