Again everything come back to dollars and sense! After the first couple of years of selling bulls in our area, economics told us that we had to do something different.
It's not rocket science - the bulls went to Kansas. Everyone told us how crazy we were, so we charged on.

Our bull alliance, Swearngin Angus, is owned by Craig’s sister and brother-in-law. We began sending the bulls to Kansas as Swearngin's market share was increasing and we needed a quicker turnaround on our investment. In the beginning, the Kansas customers were skeptical, but it did’t take long to see that our Southern bulls not only had the same performance as the native bulls, but also seemed to possess better heat and parasite tolerance. Our bulls are sent to Kansas the latter part of April, and after a brief acclimation period are turned out on Bluestem native grass pastures for the summer. We take our time to develop the rumen and let them grow, while most breeders are feeding their heads off to see how fat they can get them. (Another one of those old traditional go-broke management practices.) The first part of September, bulls are moved off of pasture to our bull facility. We then place them on a high roughage-based diet to grow muscle. We start selling bulls on October 15, on a first-come basis. Some contracted bulls are brought back to the South.

Every year our bull market grows. We now have a group of Wyoming ranchers buying bulls from us, who have found our bulls are bred and developed to withstand extreme environments. Again, the time and belief we’ve invested in our commercial customers = Big Rewards. Contact us for further information on bull availability.
